PREPARE YOURSELVES. COLLEGE STUDENTS, CHRISTMAS IS APPROACHING. We all get asked pretty mundane questions during the holiday season when we come home from college by family members that want to know way more about your life than we are willing to disclose. In this post, I will outline some better responses to five questions that we all hate to answer.
Here's how to deal with all those annoying questions you get asked during the holidays, and maybe have an answer that is better than "fine."
Question: How old are you now?
What you're Thinking: Good Grief, when will this end already?
Recommended Answer: I am ____ years young! Thank you for asking!
Question: How is school going?
What you're thinking: Ummm, how was your divorce, Harriett? How does it feel to be asked questions you don't want to answer?!
Recommended Answer: I am in my ____ year of the ___ program at ______ University. I am doing well (hopefully you are), but I am happy to be home and done with finals.
Question: My! Have you grown!
What you are thinking: I have known this person for how many years and they ask the same question every year in a row?!
Recommended Answer: Time flies doesn't it. Thank goodness I don't have to sit at the little kid table anymore!
Question: Do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend?
What you are thinking: If I had a really serious relationship you would know by now! Hahah....
